Caño Cristales is a Colombian river located in the Sierra de la Macarena, in the department of Meta. The river is commonly called “the river of five colors” or even “the most beautiful river of the world”. Due to the colorful moss-covered rocks, the river gets its multicolored appearance and because of the color of the plants and algae at its bottom which appear red, yellow, green, orange and blue give it a unique and beautiful appearance which can only be found in this specific place in Colombia. Caño Cristales has different branch arms like rapids, waterfalls, streams, and natural pools where you can take a refreshing bath. In the surroundings you can also discover 420 bird species, 10 species of amphibians, 43 of reptiles and 8 primate species amongst others.
