Cartagena de Indias

You are here

Cartagena de Indias, the pearl of the Caribbean, is part of the Bolívar department and the fifth biggest metropolis in Colombia. It is said to hold the most beautiful colonial buildings in all of America. The charming historic down town has already been declared an UNESCO world heritage in 1984. The magical Caribbean nights, accompanied by a nice warm breeze, invite to a walk on the old city wall. Like no other city Cartagena surrounds a mystical, charming and magical atmosphere. The Cartagenian cuisine is, due to its Caribbean influences, very diverse. It combines beef and chicken, but also seafood as well as different spices of all kinds. A typical local dish for Cartagena is “Arroz con Carne en Tabaquito“. This and many other typical dishes await you in “La Cocina de Pepina”, a restaurant in the heart of the city center.
