A scenic ride through the lush green mountains takes you to the village of Taparto in the coffee region of Antioquias Southwest. On a dirt road to the nature reserve Farallones de Citará you get to the waterfalls of Taparto where you can swim in crystal clear waters. On the way to Jardin you’ll see the brightly painted Chivas (the traditional public buses of the region) at the square in the small town of Andes. Jardin is nested in the hills surrounded by coffee and banana plantations. The nature reserve La Cuchilla with its cloud forests and diverse flora and fauna is the background, which makes this scenery so impressive. Alternatively, you can go directly to Jardin and take a guided villagetour. Jardin is famous for its colorful houses and balconies and the area around the famous park has been declared a national monument. The tour begins at the museum Clara Rojas, where the history of the region comes alive. After tasting the award-winning sweets of Doña Mariela you visit a coffee finca. A traditional cable car takes you to the other side of the valley and you enjoy a nice walk back to the village center. Spend the night in an idyllic finca hotel in a natural setting and fall asleep to the sound of the river.Tag 2Hike or horseback ride to the cave El EsplendorIn the early morning you hike or horseback ride through the nature reserve La Cuchilla to the famous cave El Esplendor. Passing by the typical coffee farms of the region the cave can be reached in about two hours. This place is exceptionally beautiful. You can swim in the natural pool that is surrounded by impressive tropical vegetation. After lunch at the edge of the waterfall you return to Jardin in the late afternoon. In the early evening we are back in Medellin.
