The Central zone consists of different departments like Cundinamarca, Boyacá, Santander, Meta, Casanare and Arauca which lay in the heart of the country. There is a lot to see in these areas; Bogotá the capital city of Colombia lies 2.600 meters above sea level in the Andes Mountains and is a big and bustling metropolis with plenty to do. In its surroundings are many national parks and small villages to explore. In Boyacá you find charming little towns like Villa de Leyva with its historical architecture or hot springs in Paipa. The amazing landscapes of Cocuy National Park which stretch through the departments of Boyaca and Arauca will catch your breath.  In Santander you can explore beautiful landscapes lead by the stunning Chicamocha National Park, enchanting colonial villages like Barichara and the adventure capital of the country San Gil.  The Meta and Casanare region are home to the Colombian cowboys "Los Llaneros" and to many natural paradises like Caño Cristales - “The River of five colors" which is also called "the most beautiful river of the world" or the reserve Hato Aurora where you can go on a Colombian safari and discover the diverse wild life.
